6 summer signings for the marketing department

Main Image

We love our friends in the visitor attractions industry and from many sports from cricket to American Football, but right now it’s football we’re getting excited about as we await the start of the 2015/16 season and the last flurry of summer spending.

This got us thinking… what signings can we make in the marketing department to help us as we head forward into the new season?

We have a few tips and tools up our sleeve to help you out, including a couple of free transfers!

1.Trello

Trello is a free tool. It’s awesome to help manage workloads, editorial calendars, and marketing plans within a team. You can assign different tasks to your team members and receive alerts as they progress.

We love using this at Green 4 and for a free online software it’s well worth a look.

2. Hootsuite

Another freebie for you. Hootsuite is a social media dashboard that enables you to manage a number of different social pages and sites from one place. You can also track key hashtags making it easy to stay on top of what your fans are saying.

Sure, there’s more sophisticated software out there to help you do a better job, but if you’re still getting to grips with social, it’s a great place to start progressing.

3. A Loyalty programme (Green 4)

So a loyalty programme isn’t something to just plug and play. If you’re going to be successful with this approach (and many clubs have been) then it needs careful thought and planning, before integrating it across your entire club marketing strategy. But there’s no time like the present to do your research.

Green 4 and our chosen data marketing agency, 4Sight Sport & Leisure can help you out with this. We provide a great solution for loyalty, including many cool ways for your fans to redeem their points online, and 4Sight have plenty of experience in building the strategy and helping to embed loyalty within your business.

It’s certainly something you should have a look in to, if nothing else.

4. PURLs

Personalised URLs or personal websites are a great way to engage your fans digitally, as well as help keep their data up to date.

You can tailor the look and feel of the website to different fan groups or profiles as well as displaying personalised data from your database to fine tune your message so it’s specific to each fan.

Again, 4Sight Sport can help you out with this so have a chat with them if you want to learn more.

5. A free data audit

If you don’t have good quality data, then you can’t do good quality one-to-one marketing. It’s as simple as that. It’s worth adding a data audit to your summer spending… the good news is this comes as another freebie.

There are many companies out there who will tell you all about your data quality at no cost, as well as advise you on how best you can clean or enhance your data. We recommend CCR Data, but there’s plenty more out there. 4Sight Sport can help manage this process for you if you don’t want to get your hands dirty!

6. Bitly

Use Bitly to shorten your links before posting them and it makes it easier to track how your content performs! It's free, although you can pay for a premium version that unlocks extra features.

And finally, good luck to all our clients kicking off their season this weekend!
